Puppeteer and Polichinet
Web – projection, scripts run in real time, variable dimensions · 2025– (ongoing)
In Puppeteer, contact with the interface is delegated to the program. The installation is a real-time projection. On screen, an autonomous script navigates between web pages, resizes windows, scrolls them, clicks, zooms and switches from tab to tab, replaying our everyday gestures.
The project is built both as a generative work and as a written script. Remote or local URLs are loaded from scenario files describing chapters and scenes (a scene being a browser window, possibly with several tabs). Each scene’s duration, speed and actions (click, scroll, drag, and so on) are defined in external JSON files.
In early 2026 I started developing a native software tool to extend this work on the real-time animation of browser windows. For now it is called Marionet, a nod to Puppeteer, the library at the heart of the project.
The idea is to animate and manage web content in real time, making full use of what the web offers in terms of interactivity, narration and communication. Like my previous projects, a Marionet project is built on a timeline and organised in chapters and scenes, each with its own parameters and behaviours.
The project currently relies on Electron (like WhatsApp, VS Code, Discord or Figma), Puppeteer, Vue.js and Claude (Anthropic).
