Bit planes

This program, made with Processing, slices an image into layers through its thickness, so to speak, using the principle of bit planes: a layer is created for each bit of each pixel of the image (8 bits per pixel).
The technique was applied to a large number of images (here, an aerial view). For some of them, the work went on to laser engraving and to printing the plates on paper.
