Work, work, work
Web, assembled inkjet prints · 2018–2025
Work, work, work (2018–2025) is a catalogue of the work done day after day, archiving the movements and actions performed with the mouse (number of clicks, kilometres travelled, drag and drop, scrolling, right clicks…) and highlighting how these micro-actions accumulate over time.
The graphic trace of this work also recalls a whole lineage of delegated drawing: drawing delegated to birds, to the vibrations of a train, or to the movements of our eyes.
Here, the work is produced by the hand itself, the click remaining the minimal gesture par excellence.
Like other works of mine, this one evolves and updates itself according to the possibilities and tools of the moment. Here, a custom application runs in the background on the computer and records this data automatically every day. At midnight, the day’s data is archived and a new file is created to record the next day, and so on. The aim is, in a way, to draw without drawing.
